“Ryuujin Tsuba”
Ryuujin (Dragon god) – the ruler of seas and oceans, was a dragon capable of changing into human form, and who lived in Ryugu-jo or “dragon palace”. The Dragon god is connected with agriculture because of its characteristic as a water god. Prayers for rain were performed at rivers, swamps, ponds, and deep pools which were regarded as the abodes of the Ryuujin. As a water god, Ryuujin is connected with Raijin, the god of thunder, who brings forth rain and lightning. It is thought that the Dragon god ascends to heaven when a tornado occurs.
