The blade is an Oakeshott Type XVIIIb which is always of hand and a half or two-handed type. This design was especially popular in Germany having a slender blade than Type XVIII which has a broad blade. It features a flattened-diamond blade cross-section along its entire length, with slightly convex, tapering edges. It has a Type T “scent stopper” pommel and a style 1 cross guard with pronounced écusson.
