Description

Kasai Ryu reborn! Totally different design from our 1050 version. The blade is now made of T10 with a new hamon pattern. It consists of togari-sanbonsugi-midare (pointed, three cedars, irregular) pattern, making it look like flames. There are also several tobiyaki or “jumping hamon” on the blade.

“Kasai Ryu” (Fire Dragon) – Depictions of dragons are used throughout the Japanese culture as symbols of strength, courage and magic. To the Chinese, the fire-spitting dragon was principally associated with lightning, and by extension to thunder and rainmaking, which made it a symbol of fertility.

A story of a “Fire Dragon” in Japanese folklore:

Kiyo or Kiyohime

A priest fell in love with a young woman and soon got tired of her. Abandoned, the woman studied magic at a temple and transformed into a dragon. She attacked the priest who attempted to find refuge underneath the monastery bell. Kiyo breathed fire and melted the bell, killing the priest. Kiyo symbolizes vengeful power and the consequences of giving into desire.
