Kiritsuke Iyozane Samurai Armor Yoroi

Kiritsuke Iyozane yoroi was more common among more wealthier and higher ranking samurai. Although it resembles lamellar and scale armor, the kiritsuke iyozane dō was handcrafted with long lames (strips or rows) of iron lashed and riveted together.  This style of armor was more timely and costly to produce but offered an equal level of protection with better flexibility than the more common Okegawa ni-mai dō. Even though it was an earlier style of samurai armor, it was so effective, that it was used throughout the Sengoku Jidai (Warring States Period) and into the Edo period.

This armor is an authentic reproduction made of iron, steel, leather, cotton, silk and other materials that were traditionally used during the Warring States Period of Japan. Strictly made by hand in the traditional Japanese manner by highly skilled craftsmen. This is a real, life size armor which an average adult (with a height of 5′ 3″ – 5′ 9″ ) can wear and is fully functional. The clamshell dō features a pin hinge under the left armpit which can be removed and a cord can be laced through the hinges to accommodate a larger chest.
