Raiden’s High Frequency Blade (Non-Coated Version)

Geisha’s Blade version of Raiden’s High Frequency Blade from the popular video game, Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance. The HF blade was used predominantly by the Cyborg Ninjas Gray Fox, Olga Gurlukovich and Raiden, though it was also employed by Solidus Snake and the Arsenal Tengu of the Metal Gear series.

The blade shape of our Raiden’s HF Blade is a combination of kiriha zukuri and unokubi zukuri. This has a wide blade with a width of 4cm (almost twice the width of a regular katana) and weighs 1.25 kg (about 2.75 lbs which is almost the same as a fully mounted katana with saya). The blade thickness is the same as our iaito which is 5mm thick so it won’t be quite heavy since the blade is wide.

Unfortunately this HF blade doesn’t produce powerful alternating current that resonates at extremely high frequencies in which you can cut anything like in the game, but this is a faithful reproduction that can be used for cutting banana trunks and fresh green bamboo as seen in the videos below.
